Interesting that when my local authority sends me a letter inviting me to register to vote at the top of the letter, in bold, it says something like “Register to vote or you won’t be able to get credit”.
This is because the (purely commercial) credit reference agencies base their searches on the electoral register. However – what has this got to do with voting and why is the local authority acting as an arm of the hire purchase industry?
Voting then is seen not as being about civic participation but about getting into debt.
In place of democracy “fiscalised power relations”…
