The religious critique of capitalism

Pope Francis

By the Pope.

He correctly identifies that the root problem is a global system which puts money above all else.

This breaks solidarity, causes wars, contributes to environmental destruction, (though it has to be admitted that planned economies may not be free of this problem), and denies workers basic security.

Interestingly Pope Francis appears to be a Menshevik rather than a Bolshevik:

We know from painful experience that changes of structure which are not accompanied by a sincere conversion of mind and heart sooner or later end up in bureaucratization, corruption and failure. That is why I like the image of a “process”, where the drive to sow, to water seeds which others will see sprout, replaces the ambition to occupy every available position of power and to see immediate results.
