The cult of modern liberalism

There is a sinister and dehumanising movement trying to take over global human culture. This is the cult of modern liberalism.

The liberal cult, which is flourishing in the US, but which aims to be a global movement, has the following features:

  • absolute refusal to discuss any other opinions; they are right. Any other view is “bigoted” or “far-right”, “reminiscent of the 17th century”, “a conspiracy theory”, or some such, marker, whose purpose is to legitimize dismissing it without debate. This negates the idea of tolerance which was central to old-fashioned liberalism. Note that it also negates the Enlightenment idea that we can reach solutions by reason.
  • a set of ideological beliefs around transgenderism, immigration – in favour of both. Fluidity of the “I”, which is fetishized and centralised. Who “I” am is a matter of personal choice
  • a materialistic, atheistic and hedonist religion – huge inflation of the “I”. Extreme atheism.
  • a globalist perspective; (this is corporate mono-culture). There is only one path to development and only one model of acceptable government. Anything outside this is seen as “barbaric”, “imperialistic” or simply backward in some sense. “Authoritarian states” are wrong, not just different.
  • acceptance of neo-liberal economics; very little room for the state sector in the economy; against central economic planning, unless one of the other principles trumps this one. In general, the role of the state is policing of the population. (The movement is ideological and cultural primarily, not economic, which is why there is still a degree of pragmatism as relates to the economy).
  • acceptance of a high-degree of state management of the population and social engineering; mask mandates, compulsory vaccination, policed public speech, affirmative action programmes.
  • willing subjection to rule by “experts”, (a strong parallel with cult member behaviour). Willing giving up of autonomy. The folk movement of psychotherapy with its pseudo-science is elevated and accepted as authoritative.
  • general willingness to depend on pharmaceuticals; e.g. “weight loss drugs”, medication of deviancy, (e.g. “ADHD”), use of anti-depressants. Pay attention to the ever present campaign to legalise and normalise the use of psychedelic drugs.

Some of these features are features of all states liberal and not liberal, such as control of public speech. Modern liberalism, though, seeks to subvert and harness state power to the specific direction of its cultural-political ideology. It aims to turn society into a cult, with the state discreetly policing that cult. It is a cult of atheistic hedonism where, just as in a cult, individuals are highly cosseted and protected from any challenging situations. It is a kind of extension of consumerism to its logical extreme. You have a multiplicity of choices; “you” can not just consume, but you can “be” anything you want. But; no one has any choice about this consumerist culture.

Just saying.
