Trump and Vance are briefing the same lie.
“We need to see an affirmative commitment that they will not seek a nuclear weapon, and they will not seek the tools that would enable them to quickly achieve a nuclear weapon,” Vance said. [1]
Before this war Iran offered to curtail their nuclear programme to the minium needed for a domestic civilian nuclear progamme; enrichment without any storage of enriched uranium and inspections by the IAEA – with no ‘sunset clauses’. The US already had in their grasp what they now claim is their aim.
The reality is that their aim is Iran cannot have any kind of nuclear programme at all; they have to give up all enrichment activities – and the equipment.
The truth is this is an Israeli aim. Israel, I suspect, is not driven by a rational desire to avert the risk of an Iranian nuclear bomb; a comprehensive IAEA monitored agreement would do that. I suspect this is part of Israel’s psychology of domination. The US is trying to disguise this demand by talking about ‘nuclear weapon’ and ‘tools’ – but what they are aiming at is closing down Iran’s nuclear programme altogther, (which Iran has a right to as a signatory of the NPA – non-proliferation treaty). A brand new demand and one which contradicts international law.
There is a view that even this is not the end of their lies; that they are using the nuclear issue as a lever, and what they really want is regime change, capture of Iran’s oil industry for US majors, and and end to Iran’s regional influence. [2]

Существует мнение, что даже на этом их ложь не заканчивается; что они используют ядерную проблему как рычаг, и чего они на самом деле хотят, так это смены режима, захвата нефтяной промышленности Ирана крупными американскими компаниями и прекращения регионального влияния Ирана. [2]
