What would it take to get the UK and EU to say stop to Israel?

Officially the UK “supports the two-state solution”. Meanwhile, Israel, repudiates the two state solution, in word and in deed. In reality they have been repudiating it for years. Durring the period when they went through the motions of having “final settlement negotiations” you didn’t have to be that acute an observer to notice that always, just on the eve of some round of talks Israel would announce a new expansion of settlement building.

Now, there is no longer even the slightest pretence. This is Netanyahu responding to the EU’s token asset freeze and travel ban of selected settlers:

Sanctioning Jews for living in Judea and Samaria is unacceptable. Judea is where Jews come from and Israel will always protect the rights of Jews to live in the heart of our ancestral homeland [1]

It is surprisingly hard to find this quote in the Western media. Why? Because it reveals the true nature of what we are dealing with, and it certainy isn’t the rational, democratic, partner who we pretend Israel to be.

This is finance Minister Smotrich – equally loathsome;

We are building the Land of Israel and destroying the idea of a Palestinian state [2]

I was struck by Kaja Kallas’ (EU High Rep for irrationalism and moral degeneracy) speech announcing these tokenistic sanctions. She explained in her pseudo-moralistic way “Extremism and violence carry consequences.”. [3]

There is something unreal about this. A handful of the most violent settler leaders cannot travel to the EU and face an asset ban. Probably most of them are far too busy terrorising Palestian children to want to travel to Europe. I don’t know if many will be affected by the asset freeze; probably not. But, how Kallas manages to ‘denounce’ the “violence and extremisim” of the settlers while ignoring the fact that the settlers’ violence is, according to multiple media and NGO reports, facilitated by Israel military forces, and, as we see above, blessed by the Prime Minister and other Ministers, I do not know.

And, we haven’t even mentioned the genocide/mass war crimes in Gaza. 70,000 dead. A civilian to combatant ratio of 15:1, [4] 92% of homes damaged or destroyed, [5] not ‘violent’? A campaign described as genocide by mutliple respected NGOs, and UN experts? Deliberately starving a civlian population, not ‘extreme’?

The ethnic cleansing in the West bank goes on. Violent attacks against unarmed Palestinians, damage to property, shooting children dead – all done by or with the collaboration of the most moral army in the world.

And still; from the UK and the EU, basically nothing. A few tokenistic sanctions on settlers. They even still buy products from the occupied West Bank. Is there nothing that Israel can do that would cause these people to even just withdraw their support?
